Cara Maksimow, LCSW

Thank you for your interest in learning more about me and about Maximize Wellness. My goal is to help others successfully navigate through times of stress, feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, trauma, and day-to-day challenges.

I have spent many years in the healthcare industry in a variety of roles. In 2014 I opened Maximize Wellness, LLC where I provide one-on-one clinical therapy, supervision, and public speaking programs for corporations and local community. Prior to opening my practice I worked in various behavioral health agencies as a Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, and Director. In 2000 through 2013 my career shifted to a corporate setting where I worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, Regional Sales Trainer, and District Manager. No matter which role I am in, my passion is helping others be and feel their best.

I competed my undergraduate degree in psychology from Rutgers University in 1994 and my MSW from Columbia University in 1996, with a specialization in Health/Mental Health and a minor in Law. I have been a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) since 1998 as well as hold certificates and post-graduate training in multiple therapeutic techniques.

In 2013 I wrote the book, Lose That Mommy Guilt. The book is a practical guide for new moms based on the lessons I learned as I navigated my own insecurities and perfectionism as a working mom. In 2017 I had the honor of writing a chapter on building self confidence in the book Millennials in Wonderland.

When  I am not at work, I enjoy being an active member of my local community as a member of the Chatham Mayor's Wellness Advisory Comittee and the NJ Cross-Town Mental Health Coalition. I am also a member of the Food Allergy Counselor National Directory and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

As a proud mom to two amazing young adults, you can usually find me spending my spare time with friends and family, reading, or watching a baseball game!

If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete
